Placing Text from another Document

Note: If you select a frame, the action will replace the contents of that frame or add the text to it if you have the insertion point in a text frame.

1. Click the File menu.
2. Click Place.
3. Find and select your document in the Place window. Select the Open button to open your document.





4. The selection pointer indicates that the text from the opened document is ready to be inserted.





5. Left-click and hold on the document, then draw your Text Frame.





6. After you've arrived at the desired size of the Text Frame, release the Left-click. Your text is now inside that frame, which has been created.

Note: If the frame has a red plus sign, this means there is more text in it. The text frame size must be increased, or you can connect (link text frames) the words to flow between them.

Text Threading

1. Click the Selection Tool from the Tools Panel (See Figure 23).
2. On the document, select a text frame by left-clicking it (see Figure 23).





3. Select the Text Frame, then click the red plus sign.





4. The pointer points to the text frame, which is ready to be added.





5. On the document, press and hold the left mouse button while drawing a Text Frame.





6. After you've got the correct size of the Text Frame, let go of the Left Click. That frame has been created and your text is now in it, connected to the other frame.
