The iconic Olympic flag with its five interlocking rings was indeed designed in 1913. Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic movement, is credited with the design. The first Olympic flag was flown in 1914 at the Pan-Egyptian Games in Alexandria, Egypt.
