This is due to a thin membrane that connects crocodile tongues to the roof of their mouths. This membrane restricts the movement of the tongue and makes it impossible for the crocodile to stick it out.
Crocodiles may not need to stick out their tongues for a variety of reasons. For starters, they do not eat with their tongues. Crocodiles swallow their prey whole, and when they eat underwater, they have a special valve at the back of their throats that prevents water from entering their lungs.
Second, crocodiles do not communicate with one another using their tongues. They use a variety of vocalizations, body postures, and scent markings to communicate.
