The reason why I prefer them to be punished is because the police officer will now begin to look for another job, and this will be bad for him if he has a family to take care of.
The police should be punished and observed for some time before they can fully assign him duties. Punishment is the best thing to do because everyone deserves a second chance; God gives us a second chance, and even more, as humans, we ought to live like our heavenly father by giving others a second chance to right their wrongs.
