How can we stop plagiarism on steemit?

Introduction

Plagiarism has been a serious issue in the circular world, especially in the institutions of learning, not just on steemit. I remember my days at university as an undergraduate where a particular lecturer's book was retrieved from him because of plagiarism. I can't really remember what happened next.

In those days in school, we were usually advised to site our sources using the end notes in order to give credit to the real owner of where the ideas were extracted from. And so, from that time till date, I have always been very careful writing and acknowledging the original source.

Explain plagiarism to a newbie on Steem.

To a newbie on steemit, plagiarism is the act of taking ideas from a book or online, then posting the (write-up, picture or music) or whatever you get from others on your blog without giving proper recognition to the owner (by mentioning where it was got from). What it means is that you now claim the whole idea posted on your blog as totally your idea, when you had picked the writing somewhere else.

Another form of plagiarism is summarising the idea as though it was totally yours without giving credit to the real owner of the idea.

It is important to note that one can plagiarise oneself. That is copying what you have posted from in a particular community to another community.

What are your best approaches in educating new users on abstinence of plagiarism on Steem.
  • What I do is ask them to concentrate on the niche they are very good at. That's what I do as well.
  • I ask them to engage on what they have a good idea of, this is because failure to have an idea about a topic will prompt you to seek a shortcut. That is, going online to pick another person's work in order to make a post.
  • Short and simple, focus on diary games and write on what you have an idea about.
Do you believe on Steem Moderators links of checking plagiarism ? Or you have your own trusted method.

I understand there may be issues with some of the apps used to verify some posts, but that's not a problem. I believe that the moderator's source is reliable because, since I have not been involved in any plagiarism, they haven't accused me wrongly. I believe those who are caught by the moderators have engaged either knowingly or unknowing in the act.

Do you know you can avoid plagiarism? Mention at most three ways of avoiding plagiarism.

Yes, you can avoid plagiarism on steemit.

  1. You can decide to write dairy games about your day's activities.

  2. Stay only on the topics you have a good idea about.

  3. When writing, cite the source of your information.

I have been writing on steemit consistently for the last one-year plus, I've never found wanting or used any plagiarism. I was surprised when I got to know that moderators do check plagiarism in all the posts. I asked myself why would people pick information from another place to make a post without accurate citing of the source.

If I wrote without plagiarism, it's possible anyone could write without plagiarism. Avoid plagiarism, focus on your area of interstate and knowledge.
