Happy New Week

It feels great posting in this community for the first time and am so excited as well. This community is doing very well and I will try my best to start being active here. This week contest topic is nice and I have alot of ideas concerning it that's why I have decided to try it out this morning before doing other things. Of course everyone has been sad before and also got happy again at the ending. I appreciate sir @memamun for organizing this contest.

Why are you upset, what causes you to be depressed??

Am upset because of the current situation of my country, am a Nigerian and the economic status has been very bad for more than 6 years as it gets worst everyday. This has made me deprived myself of most of the important and good things of life. Life was very enjoyable when I was a kid because the economic situation of my country wasn't bad then, we had wise and good leaders but the leaders currently on seat are very heartless and awful too.

Everyday am upset because I can't eat to my satisfaction anymore, I can't buy extra things I need because my money easily gets finished in the market. The price of things are just too cost and is getting unbearable. Everyday people are dying as a result of hunger in my country. I get depressed each time I don't complete my set goals for a particular week or month because of some unnecessary reasons or situation whereby something bad happened.

What steps do you take to improve your mood when you are upset?

I take different steps to improve my mood whenever am depressed and these steps aren't difficult at all, it depends on the things you love doing because most of them are about the things I derive joy in doing without spending much money and they are;

  • Listening to cool musics that gives inspiration and motivation.

  • Making amazing designs with my laptop.

  • Interacting with alot of people I love.

  • Playing basketball for hours.

  • Playing football for hours.

  • Watching movies.

What advice would you give to those who are very depressed to overcome their depression??

I will tell them to never give up on themselves, life is a process and we need to have patience till the day God will completely bless us. Have faith that things will turn around for good. Ok I will tell them about a story of my friend who was depressed for a very long time, he was always verbally abused by his classmates in high school few years ago and he felt very bad, this guy was very poor because his parents had no money to give him for snacks money and transport fare to school.

This guy cries every night n his room because he really need money and peace, he starves himself everyday in school and he always trek to school and back home after school. My friend later discovered that the only way he can survive is through prayers and constant hardwork. He decided to join steemit immediately he heard about it despite the fact that he doesn't have enough money for data.

My friend was still depressed because he wasn't getting much votes, his posts weren't recognized and he spends time looking at alot of steemians posts and admiring their votes. My friend summoned the courage to never give up and today he's now a highly respected young steemian in steemit who now supports his parents financially. I will tell them to never give up and always do the things they love doing.

I invite @eliany, @dove11, @suboohi and @mhizta to participate in this contest.
