The holy month of Ramadan has started. This month all Muslims keep fast and worship God. Muslim people consider it the special month of God's blessings and mercy. In the month of Ramadan, God's blessings are showered, but fasting during this period also has many health benefits. In Ramadan, people who believe in Islam fast for about 12-15 hours. During this period, fasting people eat twice a day. During fasting, food is eaten before sunrise in the morning and after sunset in the evening. This long gap between meals is very good for health.

By fasting, weight also reduces rapidly. Nowadays, due to bad lifestyle, most of the people are troubled by the problem of obesity. In such a situation, weight can also be reduced by fasting. During fasting, because your stomach remains empty for about 12-15 hours, it reduces calorie intake. Our digestive system gets a chance to rest and metabolism gets a boost. This helps in reducing weight.
Fasting detoxifies our body. The reason behind this is that during fasting, our digestive system gets full opportunity to rest. During fasting, the digestive system does not have to work as hard as it does on normal days. Due to this, the body is able to detoxify and toxins are excreted outside of the body.
Fasting does not only mean staying hungry but it is also advised to control the senses during this period. In such a situation, if someone has any addiction which is harmful for health, then he can easily get rid of it during the month of Ramadan.

Since Roja is a very difficult fast. Hence fasting people should include such things in their diet which do not make them feel weak. Roja falls in the summer months, hence one feels a lot of thirst. So such people should include dates, fiber rich food, protein, curd, coconut in their diet. You can easily continue your worship by accepting water.

I have many friends who are from Muslim religion and keep fasting. Seeing them I also feel very happy to keep fast with their family members. I always try to spread the cultural traditions and share the happiness with love. But as big foodie, I did not fast for even single day throughout my life.

There are a lot of misconceptions or myths spread about this. I have not kept Roza so I don't know what is true and what is false.
But what I have heard from my friend, I am telling her here that fasting is harmful for health. Eating or drinking anything by mistake breaks the fast; the saliva in the mouth is always spit out during the fast
