Scamming and phishing are common online threats. They target users to steal money or information. On Steemit, knowing these threats helps keep your account safe. So this part is very important for any newbies working here in the platform.
What is Scamming?
Scamming means tricking someone for money or rewards. On Steemit, scams include:

- Asking for donations for fake causes.
Scammers use tricks to gain trust. Be alert to avoid falling for their tricks.
What is Phishing?
Phishing is stealing sensitive information like passwords. Phishers often use fake websites or links. On Steemit, phishing can happen through:
- Fake login pages.
- Suspicious links shared in comments.
- Email messages pretending to be from Steemit.
How Scammers Operate
Scammers use these methods:
Fake Offers:
- Promising guaranteed returns.
- Offering free STEEM TRON etc for clicking links.
Impersonation:
- Pretending to be a trusted user.
- Copying profile pictures and names.
False Urgency:
- Claiming limited-time offers.
- Asking for quick action.
How to Avoid Scams and Phishing
- Never share your private keys with anyone.
- Double-check URLs before logging in.
- Avoid clicking suspicious links.
- Report suspicious accounts to moderators.
What to Do If You Are Targeted
If you suspect a scam or phishing attempt:
- Do not respond.
- Check your wallet power down status.
- Check your saving balance.
- Change your account password immediately. Very important.
- Inform the community or moderators.
- Regularly visit site once in a day to check power down status.
Scamming and phishing are serious issues. Always stay cautious. Protect your account and assets. A little awareness can save you from big losses. So be very very careful.
