It is difficult to identify the scam smart contracts but you can do your best to find them and avoid joining them otherwise if you give permission to them then whatever you deposit in the future, will be transferred automatically to that scammer. If you think that Metamask is decentralized and impossible to hack then you are right it is not Metamask mistake but it is your mistake when you connect suspicious smart contracts with your wallet.
Fundamentals are not just for the trading purpose but even if you are investing in any project or joining any airdrp then you have to do fundamentals and research more about that platform before joining or investing. there is an advanced setting where you can check how many of them are connected and you can also disconnect them from your wallet.
You have to do this process if you are a victim already. One of my friends already lost $89 worth of Ethereum which is why I am telling you to please be careful. I agree what you discussed in this post which is about some suspicious and malicious smart contracts. One thing I always say is that where there is good there is also bad, like if we talk only about smart contract we can see that smart contract has many good qualities but some people are using it wrongly and creating bad attitude of people towards it.
