Epiphytic cacti

Epiphytic because they grow on trees in nature although we can grow them in the soil. They are great because they don't have spines and spectacular flowers

Christmas cactus, Schlumbergera although it's more accurate to call it a winter flowering plant. Mine starts making flowers in June

Looking good. These were traditionally grown by our grandparents but they are making a comeback

Well, what's not to love? no thorns: small pots, occasional watering. An ideal houseplant!

Yes, there were always pots full of these on every old lady's front porch. I'm appreciating them more as I get older.

Like most cacti, they need to grow outside or they won't flower although the porch was often a bit too sunny. I'm enjoying the flowers of the modern cultivars, as well as the weirder epiphytes. I'll post more as they flower
