Dawn is often the coolest time of the day, and if we are fortunate enough to be in a forest or garden, a lovely miracle happens on the leaves and this miracle is known as dewdrops on leaves. These raindrops on the leaf tips are so small and spherical shaped the dew droplets appearing on a leaf and light streams in the morning.

These dewdrops are created when the deep cold in the night meets moisture in the atmosphere and settles on the leaves which must have cooled down. These drops usually measure about 5 mm in diameter and are perfectly spherical just like drops of water even on the canvas of Mother Nature. The reason for this spherical nature of the droplets is that due to the force of surface tension within the water as a liquid, it gathers into its smallest and most stable shape.

Needless to say, the dewdrops are a visual extravaganza in themselves. Through the leaves, looking at the sun, the dew drops sparkle and shine like rainbows, and relishing the green shades of the leaves more, the droplets melt the colours of the Tibetian people. It is as though each drop of dew magnifies a very small part of the leaf’s surface and it presents multiple details that lie on the leaf. Light and water combined together create such illusions of nature’s creativity – it is such an amazing sight.
