Biodiversity loss represents the loss of life diversity, including the extinction of species, the destruction of habitats, and the degradation of ecosystems. This catastrophe is mainly driven by human activities like deforestation, pollution, climate change, and overexploitation of resources. With the extinction of species, ecosystems become out of balance resulting in the decline of ecosystem services such as the provision of pollinators, water and soil which are important for mankind. This loss affects food safety, health setbacks, and even the world economy. It is imperative to conserve biodiversity in order to sustain life on the planet, hence requiring a global submission to efforts such as conservation, sustainable development and climate change mitigation. Advances towards the reduction of biodiversity loss include the restoration of habitats and reduction of anthropogenic effects.
