The Integration of Robotics in the Medical Field
Robotic systems are helping to evolve healthcare systems by increasing precision, efficiency and the quality of life of patients. Robotic surgical systems, for example da Vinci, allows for the performance of surgical procedures with minimal incision providing faster recovery and fewer complications. In the case of rehabilitation, robotic therapy machines address the physical part of the treatment enabling the patients to recover their mobility quicker. Autonomous systems can also be utilized for supply delivery, hospital cleanup and for automation of tedious activities, increasing the amount of time practitioners have on treating patients. Robotic systems’ functionality is spreading into telemedicine for remote diagnosis and supervision. Progress in technology facilitates further incorporation of robotics into the – Army medicine, where endless possibilities for improving the quality of care arise, along with new ones that can be used by practitioners.
