Being a musician can be quite nice sometimes, being put up in lovely surroundings is definitely one of the better perks! Most of the time, we are in hotels in major cities... which can be good if you are into that sort of thing. But once in a while, you are placed in outer areas... and I tend to prefer these sorts of accommodations, as you get to get away from all the busy-ness of the cities... and just get to relax a bit.

On this particular trip, we found ourselves on the outskirts of Melbourne.... roughly a 45 minute drive from the CBD of the city... but far enough to have this marvelous sense of space, whilst still be close to some little "centres" for food and that sort of thing.

Looking out the window this morning, we saw a little kangaroo peeking back at us!

... and the view overlooking the valley isn't too shabby either!

It was a touch overcast in the morning, but in the afternoon, the sky opened up and it was sunny all around. We saw a pair of eagles high up in the air currents... just gliding around.

... and when we looked back out the other window... well, the kangaroos were starting to multiply.

So, a great place to spend the week... it does remind me of the summer festivals in Europe, where we would often be put up in old country manors or barns converted to guest houses. A great way to spend a couple of weeks... just getting picked up to go to rehearsals and concerts... and then coming home to quietness, and the dark night skies. Definitely a vast improvement over those city stays!
