I recently posted a blog about Prague Czech Republic. I loved the city architecture and cobblestone streets and rich history. In my travel to Sydney I think what fascinates me about different locations....the architecture...the history...the differences of each culture and customs.

Now Sydney, Australia has a very western culture compared to Central Europe, but the the buildings - especially Sydney University -- is one of those places that we were drawn to because of the architecture and history.

What is unique about it you ask? It goes back to it's foundation in 1850 as one of the first Universities in Australia and I can't be far off my amusement as it's rated as one of the top 10 most beautiful in the World. I can see why.

We loved strolling the campus and trying to take in what to me looked like an Ivy League School in the East Coast of the US. It's about the size of larger US University with around 60,000 students.

I enjoyed our tour of the grounds. I imagined what it must have been like 100 years ago. Imagine the differences in learning and academia back then at such a campus.

Like I said, I love architecture and we are all familiar with by now the great Sydney Opera House which was unveiled in 1973 -- which is modern by European standards. It's location, it's design by a Danish Architect makes it easily one of the most iconic landmarks in Australia.

And of course, the Queen Victoria Building is absolutely a must visit, not only for food and shopping but look at the beauty of this spendid place established in the late 1890's.

I love this style compared to the concrete US malls we see today. I love the European Cafe "feel". you can take a coffee and take in the sites and sounds . It's different, what a great place to shop.

It's lucky to be around these days and was saved and remodeled as the building fell in such disrepair, but it was saved thank goodness.

I know many of you can speak to many other locations in Australia. Year around sunshine, great people, and so much more, truly a great place to spend your holiday.
