What a way to end our For 91 Days on Tenerife: CALIMA! Our flight was one of the last flights leaving the island before they shut down the entire airports on Tenerife - North and South. We were lucky!
Calima is a weather phenomenon, mostly hot air from continental Africa carrying the sand of the Sahara to far far places. We even get Calima here in Valencia and it will even go up to Germany!
On the morning of the day of our departure we still had clear and blue skies but that changed quickly. More and more flights leaving the island got cancelled but our flight back to Valencia was still on. We kept our fingers crossed! And yes, we were are able to leave. What a strange departure this was.
