Before the quarantine started I had gone on a journey to go to the famous Mongolian monastery located in Gobi desert simply called monastery in the mountains. It was such an amazing experience.
Monastery in the mountains is a monastery that was built 200 hundred years ago in the Mongolian province of Umnugobi just 520 kilometers from the capital city of Ulaanbaatar. it wasn't really well known thus wasn't really a tourist destination but recently travel agencies have been recommending this so I figured I would check it out.
2 out of 1 person in Mongolia is Buddist so they are certainly many monasteries and temples like Erdene zuu( the oldest monastery in Mongolia) Amarbaysaglan (Most beautiful). Last month I wanted something more different and less known and started researching. What I stumbled across was Monastary in the Gobi desert I was ecstatic. The way to the entrance feels like Machu Picchu. Stone road through mountainside looking down the beautiful valley
apart from 2 small old clay houses monks reside all the buddha statues are in either cave or carefully crafted plates surrounded by rock
Due to recent tourism boom hotels and tourist sightseeing locations around the monastery have been built just 5 kilometers and is pretty good in my opinion. I would definitely addMonastery in the mountains to your visit checklist if you ever visit Mongolia. The low cost and the beautiful view make it well worth it.
