Hi everyone, this post about Wat Khaek in Nong Khai province
Situated on the Thailand-Lao border town of Nong Khai lies the beautiful and somewhat mysterious Wat Khaek Temple. It’s a place my grandmother enjoyed quite a bit and always wanted to visit again.
Mysterious in a way that it is “like a park” of very tall Hindu and Buddha statues almost 75 feet tall. It is a Temple like no other in Thailand. The figures are the work and dreams of a Lao artist who gives homage to his beliefs and obviously he thought bigger is better.
As you can see in the photos, there is a variety of figures, temple buildings and places to eat/drink. It’s a park my family visited some time ago and I remember the size of these statues.
The Temple grounds are well managed and plenty of green park area to walk around and enjoy an afternoon. The park entrance fee is very reasonable for all to visit.
What attracts people to this popular tourist attraction in the variety of it’s sculptures. The signs are only in Thai language which may surprise some Lao visitors since the park was created by an artist from Lao.
- The park created hundreds of years ago has weathered the change of time quite well. The figures are in good shape and mostly gray stone appearance. You walk around and can only imagine the workmanship to create these statues some 25 meters tall.
- If you are in the area this is a must visit if you have time. For less than a dollar you can enjoy the park and some good local catfish for lunch. It’s a nice place for a walk with family and marvel at the workmanship of the park creator.
Thank you for reading and supporting 🙏🏼🇹🇭❤️🇺🇸

I've never heard about this place. It's good to see mixture of two faiths.
