This was the second hiking route that I made in the afternoon of the 24th of March in Izu.

I started from the little fishing town of Tago and walked all the way around Mt. Imayama, which juts right out into the sea to the north of the town.

Arriving at Arari, the town at the end of the course, I took the bus back to Shuzenji and the train terminal there and whilst riding the hour and a half bus journey, I was lucky to have a half a bottle of whiskey still in my bag which I hadn't drunk at the hotel the night before. This made for a nice journey, watching the sea and coast go by and sipping my drink.

The hike itself is quite a winding one as it follows the contours of the mountain weaving up and down, past campsites situated further down by the sea and Aloe gardens along the small road and eventually turns into a path which gets quite steep in parts.

Rounding the mountain, you get a really good view of Mt. Fuji and as the day was nice for me, the view was lovely, especially with the cherry blossoms in bloom too.

There were thousands of birds around, as on the seaward side of the mountain there are no roads, just the hiking path. The path never descends right down to the sea, only at the start and the finish of the hike where the course meets the two towns.

The main draw of this hiking course is the mountain scenery, the sea views and Mt. Fuji, of course.
This was a very nice walk, which, all in all, including a lunch break, took about 3 hours.

I would certainly recommend this course in good weather, it was very quiet and a course with a lot of nature around and a beautiful blue sea to stare at along the way.
