The Calchaquí Valley is famous for its magnificent landscape which changes from desert to forest in the space of an instant.
The Quebrada de las Flechas spread over 20 km and is one of the memorable landscapes of the Calchaquí valley.
These rock formations date back to around 20 million years.
A lot of movement of the earthen crust occurred at this location created beautiful mountains.
This rock formation born from an ancient river between 2 mountain ranges at 4000 meters altitude.
With the erosion that followed, the rock formations became more and more sharpened to look more and more like arrows that point to the sky.
La Quebrada de las Flechas lives up to its name; "Las flechas" which means "arrows" in Spanish is a 50 meter high rock formation that really seems to point skyward as if an archer is ready to throw them.
Zig zagging through this incredible natural terrain is quite an experience.
We climb, we descend, we pass through a narrow ravine to admire these grandiose landscapes changing with the sun and the clouds.
We never want it to end...
