I moved into a new village because it's closer to my boyfriend job, this village is a little bigger than the one I leave but it's lovely, it's situated near the river Ombrone, so the weather it's quite humid, but living near a river is nice, hearing the sound of flowing water is very relaxing. Piteccio is in the hills wuindi there is a lot of greenery it is a nice place for walking.

This is one of the war memorial of the village situated in the main park.

Piteccio during the second Modiake war was hit hard, in 1944 an air raid destroyed one of the main bridges that connected by train to a railway line called Porrettana, now restored and active, Piteccio in Bologna, many civilians died in the raid. For this raid there is a war memorial in front of the church for remembering who died for the bombs.

An old postcard of the bridge.

Piteccio was once a medieval feud of the Vergiolesi and very important for communications and markets, being on the Apennines and leading to Sambuca and Emilia. At one time it also had a castle and had small parts in the struggles of Florence. In short, a small town but with great activity. In the 1864 king Vittorio Emanuele II raise the railway train station and it was the most important thing for the village.

The patron is Saint Mary and it's celebrated the 15 of August, with festivals and fireworks.
