Trevi Fountain. We continue in the direction we came from, right in front of the entrance to the Pantheon on Via del Seminario until we cross Via del Corso, which we follow to the left until we see Via delle Muratte. We follow it to the right until we reach the Trevi Fountain, in Piazza di Trevi. Piazza di Trevi is located at the intersection of three streets, Via delle Muratte, Via delle Vergine and Via delle Stamperia, hence its name (three streets).

The Trevi Fountain is the place that fascinated us. I came here on the second and third day. The water color of the huge artesian well lit in the evening is magical. I think it is the tourist objective included in the visit plan of all the guests of Rome. I'm not saying that just because I found congestion around the fountain. First of all, it is a place hunted by couples for pictures, but especially to make a wish by throwing a penny towards the sculpture of the god Neptune, in the fountain, over the shoulder, standing with his back to it. It is said that throwing the coin over the shoulder fulfills the desire to return to Rome.

The Trevi Fountain was built between 1732 and 1762 by Nicola Salvi for Pope Clement XII. The current fountain is inspired by the Arch of Constantine. The construction of the fountain is glued to the back of a palace, the Poli Palace, thus having a special note. You feel in the yard of a castle with your girlfriend and if you close your eyes you can live a beautiful love story.

In the center of the fountain is the statue of Neptune, flanked by riding newts, which symbolizes a stormy sea on the left and a calm sea on the right. The statues in the niches behind the god represent Health and Abundance, and the statues on the pediment of the fountain, the four seasons and their gifts.

Trevi Fountain is the most beautiful and famous fountain in Rome, see Fellini's film, "La Dolce Vita", with Anita Ekberg or "Three Coins in a Fountain".
Trevi marks the end of the Acqua Vergine aqueduct, built by Agrippa in the 19th century BC, from a miraculous spring, discovered by a virgin. This scene is immortalized in the statue on the right of the fountain, and on the left we recognize the statue of Augustus. The aqueduct still feeds the fountain today! Nicola Salvi paid homage to the ancient origins by grafting his exuberant baroque creation on the classic architectural framework of a triumphal arch.
Means of transport: buses of lines 62 and 85 and metro line red A, Barberini station.
