New Zealand is considering its own digital currency
The announcement comes from the Central Bank of New Zealand, which would like to use the new national digital currency as a monetary policy tool.
According to documents published for public consultation, trends in the use of cash and innovations in the field of money represent an opportunity to consider expanding the central bank's offer with a new format widely available.
The declining use, acceptance and availability of cash in New Zealand and emerging innovations in private money, namely stable currencies, make this an opportune time to consider a central bank digital currency.
Although the development of the new digital currency could take a long time, and would involve a multi-stage approach, Central Bank officials in New Zealand are in favor of the idea. The new digital currency would be supported using the New Zealand dollar "as a single unit of account", with 1-to-1 parity in cash exchanges.
Other central banks around the world, including the European Central Bank, are also exploring the possibility of issuing a digital currency. But the challenges of this technology are numerous and require a careful analysis of potential dangers:
As with other forms of digital money, a digital version of the national currency must be resilient to disruption and other cyber security risks, maintain data confidentiality and comply with all relevant regulations.
Lenovo, the number one on the world laptop market, is working on a portable console that will compete with the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck models. The device will be based on the Android operating system, just like the Switch. The images with the console were discovered right on the Chinese company's website. The device name appears to be Legion Play.
Although not much is known about the console, some details can be seen in the images. Icons for GeForce Now, Nvidia's video game streaming service, the Google Play Store and several Android apps appear on the screen. We also notice that the device includes a 3.5 mm audio jack, but no cameras are observed. Moreover, it seems that Legion Play has support for mobile data services.
From the description on the site we find that Lenovo Legion Play is the first Android console for cloud gaming. The device has a 16: 9 screen, Full HD (1,080p), compatible with HDR 10 technology. Moreover, the console has two speakers and dual vibration system. The battery has a capacity of 7,000 mAh. We don't know anything about chipsets, RAM or storage capacity.
The company is already a major player in the mobile gaming market. In April, the Chinese giant launched the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 smartphone.
