Rome, the Eternal City and the most visited place in the world. A city full of monuments, churches, historic markets, a real open-air museum. In every corner of Rome there is a church and there are about 900 religious buildings. Great places to discover art, history and religion. Some are true oases of peace where believers come to worship and tourists to admire their splendor.
Impressive churches seem to have amassed all the riches of the ancient Roman Empire. I visited Rome during the winter holidays and inside there was a Bethlehem that represents biblical scenes in the center of which is the birth of Christ. Some of these scenes from Bethlehem are spectacular!

Santa Maria Maggiore, San Giovanni in Laterano, Basilica San Pietro, Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura, Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, Biserica San Clemente, Basilica Santa Maria in Trastevere sunt quelques of the jewels of Rome that I want to describe.
The Basilica of San Giovani in Lutherani was the first church built in Rome by order of Constantine the Great in the fourth century. It was the most important church here with its Papal State headquarters until Pope Nicholas II moved to the Vatican. until 1870 the investiture service of all the popes took place here and every year the Pope the Archbishop of Rome holds the religious service which takes place on the great Thursday of the week of Catholic Easter.
The basilica maintains the same original shape, being modeled over the centuries. Although it suffered earthquakes and fires, the façade, the 13th century cloister and the old baptistery that has been restored are preserved.

The doors of the bronze church are original and were brought from the Roman Forum, in fact many objects of the forum were used to build the churches of Rome. The interior is a spectacular work of art with sculptures and religious paintings. Impressive is the dome with mosaics dating from the thirteenth century and rebuilt in the nineteenth century.
Of particular importance in the religious world is the Holy Staircase in front of the church that Jesus climbed on Good Friday to be judged. Many believers still climb this ladder today with Jesus as their model.
