UNFORGETTABLE TRIP - Old Giaveno 🇮🇹🇬🇧

Domenica scorsa, al mattino visto la bella giornata, sono sceso a Giaveno in scooter, per fortuna, perche' non avrei saputo dove parcheggiare l'auto.
Mai vista cosi' tanta gente in paese, auto ovunque, parcheggiate persino in mezzo al verde.

C'era la fiera del fungo, banchetti di ogni tipo sparsi in giro per la citta', sia gastronomici che di diversa natura.
Ovviamente con in primo piano quelli che esponevano funghi, chiaramente soltanto un ingenuo puo' pensare che tutti si trattino di porcini autoctoni, ci vorrebbero piu' boschi che in Russia ma in una giornata simile non si va troppo per il sottile.

In piu' c'era pure la fiera del Cervin (una sorta di formaggio credo di capra) a Coazze, 5 km da Giaveno.
Un delirio di gente ovunque.
Per togliermi dal casino sono andato in giro per la parte vecchia di Giaveno, borgo che mi capita di frequentare raramente.
Pubblico qualche foto e vi racconto un po' di storia.

Il paese ha origini molto antiche, si ritiene che occorra risalire ad un insediamento romano da parte della famiglia dei Gavi che viveva in Augusta Taurinorum (Torino) e che pare si sia fatta costruire da queste parti una casa colonica.

In questa zona Carlo Magno riusci' a cogliere i Longobardi alle spalle sconfiggendoli siamo nel 773.
Nel 1195 il Barbarossa toglie l'insediamento all'Abbazia a cui era
stato donato dal conte di Savoia, per donarlo a Carlo I, vescovo di Torino.

La zona passa di mano diverse volte, nel 1630 durante la seconda guerra monferrina Giaveno viene occupata dalle truppe francesi facendo entrare in guerra i Savoia che scacciano i mangiarane
dopo l'assedio di Torino del 1706.

Zona fortemente partigiana durante la seconda guerra mondiale, dove l'intera popolazione si sollevo' contro i nazifascisti scacciandoli dal territorio.

Per questa ragione, meritoria, a Giaveno e' stata conferita la medaglia d'argento al valor militare.

Last Sunday, in the morning seeing the beautiful day, I went down to
Giaveno on a scooter, luckily, because I wouldn't have known where
Park the car.
Never seen so many people in town, cars parked everywhere
even in the middle of the greenery.
There was the mushroom fair, stalls of all kinds scattered around the
city, both gastronomic and of a different nature.
Obviously with those who displayed mushrooms in the foreground,
clearly only a naive person can think that everyone treats each other
of native porcini mushrooms, we would need more forests than in Russia but in
a day like this isn't too subtle.
Plus there was also the Cervin fair (a sort of cheese I think
of goat) in Coazze, 5 km from Giaveno.
A frenzy of people everywhere.
To get out of the mess I went around the old part of
Giaveno, a village that I rarely visit.
I'll post some photos and tell you a bit of history.
The town has very ancient origins, it is believed that it must be traced back to
a Roman settlement by the Gavi family who
lived in Augusta Taurinorum (Turin) and which seems to have happened
build a farmhouse in these parts.
In this area Charlemagne managed to capture the Lombards at
behind defeating them we are in 773.
In 1195 Barbarossa removed the settlement from the Abbey it belonged to
was donated by the Count of Savoy, to give it to Charles I, bishop of
Turin.
The area changed hands several times, in 1630 during the second
Monferrato war Giaveno is occupied by French troops
causing the Savoys to enter the war and chase away the frog eaters
after the siege of Turin in 1706.
Strongly partisan area during the Second World War,
where the entire population rose up against the Nazi-fascists
driving them out of the territory.
For this meritorious reason, Giaveno was awarded the
silver medal for military valor.
