Prima di partire ho visto il reportage sulla Rai riguardante il concerto di Modena di Vasco del 2017 che festeggiava i 40 anni sul palco del cantante di Zocca.
Premetto che non sono un suo fan, mi piaciono alcune sue canzoni ma non amavo, nei primi 20 anni di sua carriera, l'immagine dello sballone, spesso tossico, che tramandava alle nuove generazioni.

Ho trovato ridicole le lauree honoris causa conferitegli da alcuni atenei, forse anni prima le avrebbe trovate ridicole pure lui.
Quando da ragazzo volevo ascoltare, se proprio dovevo, del buon rock italiano non era proprio a Vita Spericolata che pensavo, al limite
agli Area, alla Pfm di “Si puo' fare”, persino ai Pooh di “Rotolando respirando” o all'assolo di chitarra di Dody Battaglia in Parsifal.
Pero' negli anni gli ho visto tirare fuori una nuova maturita', una consapevolezza delle responsabilita' che un grande artista ha nei confronti di chi lo ascolta e delle cose che dice.

Se, come e' accaduto a Modena, fai un concerto davanti a 250 mila persone e TUTTI cantano le tue canzoni dalla prima all'ultima, senza un attimo di respiro, vuol dire che un segno preciso lo hai lasciato.
Di lui mi piace la normalita', la sua semplicita', potrebbe essere uno che incontri in un bar a farsi uno spriz e con cui parli di motori, calcio e figa.
Non l'ho mai visto tirarsela...ed e' Vasco.

Ho un paio di amici che ogni anno, scendendo al sud per le vacanze, passano in pallegrinaggio da Zocca passando davanti a casa sua e della sua mamma, un'altro amico che ha una grande casa de renta a La Habana e' proprio di Zocca, mi ha raccontato
che in paese tutti gli vogliono bene proteggendo la sua privacy.
Mi piace il suo essere profondamente emiliano romagnolo, le sue canzoni sarebbero perfette per qualche film di Fellini, di quelli carnali e sanguigni, al limite ad un altro livello quelli del buon
vecchio Tinto Brass.
Non e' il mio massimo ma merita rispetto il buon Vasco.

Before leaving I saw the report on Rai regarding Vasco's Modena concert in 2017 which celebrated the singer from Zocca's 40 years on stage.
Let me start by saying that I am not a fan of him, I liked some of his songs but I didn't love, in the first 20 years of his career, the image of the stoner, often toxic, that he passed down to the new generations.

I found the honorary degrees awarded to him by some universities ridiculous, perhaps years earlier he would have found them ridiculous too.
When as a boy I wanted to listen, if I really had to, to some good Italian rock, it wasn't Vita Spericolata that I was thinking about, at least
to Area, to Pfm in “Si puo' fare”, even to Pooh in “Rotolando respirando” or Dody Battaglia's guitar solo in Parsifal.
But over the years I have seen him bring out a new maturity, an awareness of the responsibilities that a great artist has towards those who listen to him and the things he says.

If, as happened in Modena, you give a concert in front of 250 thousand people and EVERYONE sings your songs from first to last, without a moment's breath, it means that you have left a precise mark.
I like the normality of him, the simplicity of him, he could be someone you meet in a bar having a spriz and with whom you talk about motors, football and pussy.
I've never seen him take it easy... and it's Vasco.

I have a couple of friends who every year, going down south for the holidays, pass by Zocca's house passing by his and his mother's house, another friend who has a large casa de renta in Havana is from Zocca , he told me
that everyone in the village loves him and protects his privacy.
I like that he is profoundly Emilia Romagna, his songs would be perfect for some of Fellini's films, the carnal and bloody ones, at least the good ones at another level

It's not my best but the good Vasco deserves respect.
