Hi everyone, I signed up for Steemit yesterday and I'm new to the platform. I found your community and this contest and being a lover of culture, art and photography, I found it just right for me.
Among all my travels I decided for this contest to publish the Abbey of San Galgano.
I visited it last fall with my brother, before it closed due to the covid-19 pandemic.
The abbey is located about 30 km from Siena, in Tuscany, and was built at the end of the 13th century. During the eighteenth century it was demolished and deconsecrated, towards the end of the nineteenth century it regained interest and was restored, now we see it so without the roof but full of charm.
I decided to present this photo as it is a perfect combination of archeology and art, the one I studied during the university.
It is immersed in the Tuscan hills, a wonderful territory rich in nature but not only also culture and good food. A visit to the Abbey is a must if you are in the area and believe me it is absolutely worth it.
It is possible to see, thanks to the openings of the ancient windows, a truly exciting play of lights, in fact inside it is also possible to set up weddings, thanks to this suggestive atmosphere that is created.
It is possible to visit it every day and the ticket costs only € 4.

Ciao a tutti, mi sono iscritta a Steemit ieri e sono nuova nella piattaforma. Ho trovato la vostra community e questo contest ed essendo io un'amante della cultura, dell'arte e della fotografia, l'ho trovato proprio adatto a me.
Tra tutti i miei viaggi ho deciso per questo contest di pubblicare l'Abbazia di San Galgano.
L'ho visitata lo scorso autunno con mio fratello, prima della chiusura a causa pandemia da covid-19.
L'abbazia si trova a circa 30 km da Siena, in Toscana, ed è stata costruita a fine '200. Nel corso del 1700 fu demolita e sconsacrata, verso la fine dell'800 riprese interesse e venne restaurata, ora la vediamo così priva della copertura ma piena di fascino.
Ho deciso di presentare questa foto in quanto è un perfetto connubio tra archeologia e arte, quello che ho studiato durante l'Università.
E' immersa nelle colline toscane, un meraviglioso territorio ricco di natura ma non solo anche cultura e buon cibo. Una visita all'Abbazia è d'obbligo se si è in zona e credetemi ne vale assolutamente la pena.
E' possibile vedere, grazie alle aperture delle antiche finestre, un gioco di luci veramente emozionante, infatti all'interno è possibile allestire anche matrimoni, grazie a questa atmosfera suggestiva che si crea.
E' possibile visitarla tutti i giorni e il biglietto costa solamente 4€.
