Of all the forms of art, I would say literary arts have truly captured my heart—and I couldn't be a more willing captive.
Novels, short stories, poems, essays – all contain words born from the reflective minds of individuals who took the time to pen their thoughts, patiently drawing them out from the depths of their innermost lives and the lives of others at the periphery of their own.
As Henry David Thoreau expresses in Walden, a written word “is the work of art nearest to life itself. It may be translated into every language, and not only be read but actually breathed from all human lips; not represented on canvas or in marble, but be carved out of the breath of life itself.” These words not only take the form of print but are also breathe from all human lips!
Books may be much cheaper than many other works of art on the market, but I can confidently say they contain countless treasures of valuable ideas and profound truths. However, there's a catch: only those with the most inquisitive minds can truly uncover these treasures.
Novels/short stories (Fiction): Although I seldom read them, but after hearing the perspective of author Mortimer Adler, I’ve come to appreciate their value. He pointed out that, just as we learn from our everyday experiences, we can also learn from the artistically created experiences that this kind of literature evokes in our imagination. I suppose it’s an enabler of experiences we might not otherwise encounter in our own lifetime.
Poetry: I’ve recently become acquainted with it, and my life has been a roller coaster of pleasures and embarrassments ever since—but it’s been worth it, even with the awkward moments. Personally, I’d say poetry is the most intoxicating form of literary art – an eyegasm of language with its beautifully crafted phrases captivating readers and dazzles the imaginations with vivid scenes and profound emotions.

🤣🤣🤣
Because I ate heihei? 😅 Are you for real?
many poems make me return the book where I found them, mainly because they're filled with words I don't understand and I have to check the dictionary to complete the book. I prefer the very simple yet creative ones.
What do you mean by this anyways?

Intoxicating: I think it's the poet's masterful wordplay, combined with just the right amount of ambiguity, that fills readers with both intrigue and pleasure. It's like, uhm, drinking tequila - the initial jolt catches you off guard, but the lingering warmth leaves a pleasurable buzz. I don't know if that makes sense to you😅
hey, the way I see it, reading poems is not about grammatical discernment, it's more like a play of rhetorics. It's not about what is being said, but what is being implied. Just read it straight through without being bothered by unfamiliar words. You'll eventually get something from it.
I think it should be the other way around. You ate him because he was pecking on your pan, what if he was just hungry? But you cooked him instead. Are you for real? 🤣

Exactly. That's a great way to put it. And reading is a noble intellectual exercise that many people are unaware of.
