It's a pleasure to tell you about one of the ancient religious places in my home town in tangalle. Sri Lanka is famous for temples, ruins and other religious sites.So today I am introduce in one of our ancient Buddhist temples in Southern province Sri Lanka.It's kasagala Ancient Buddhist temple (kasagala Raja Maha viharaya)

I will tell you some of the history side of this Buddhist temple. Kasgala viharaya constructed by the region of king deanampiyathissa. One of the special things is, this Temple has, King devanampiyathissa planted there is one of the sapling of the Sree Maha Bodhi.This Temple has two medium size stupa.One of the locations in top of the rock and these two steps are built by the king deanampiyathissa and king saddestissa.

Kasagala Temple has 6 inscription.It's located on the surface of the rock near the temple's stupa.They all written with brahmi scripts (early sinhala language).This area is covered with many rocks.In the past, monks dried their Robes by laying on the slab of Rock.So there is Saffron color rob seen as Saffron color rock from far.That's why that area is named by Kasagala(yellow rock).

REACHING THE DESTINATION

Kasagal Temple situated in agunuklaapalassa in hambantota district. To reach, go on Colombo - wallawaya main road and turn left into Ranna - weerakatiya road 10 km and reach the destination. If you go there, you have many choice for travel.

When you arrive in Colombo International Airport you can call official airport cab service or local cab service. The trip will be around 4 hours and the airports hires prices depend on the distance.Normally they charge 60 -70 rupees per kilometer.

If you choose to go there by bus you need to get to Colombo Bus Station and then you can get direct bus to tangalle. In the road 6 hours and charge 500 Rupees.As well as you can get to Expressway bus.It was more comfortable than normal bus.Travel will take to 2 /1 h and ticket price 1000 rupees.

If you choose a train,From the airport you need to come to kotuwa railway station and buy ticket for the beliatta.It's a 5 hour trip.On arrival to Beliatta you can walk to the main road and already on a bus to tangalle.So you can take tuk -tuk to tangalle.

ACCOMADATIONS

You can find the hotel at $ 15 in Tanglle area. I personally recommend to you a few hotels below:

• Tangalle Paradise - which is 7km away from tanglle.Beach front hotel and per night $ 39 with breakfast.
• Bay Beach - 8km away from tanglle and double room with the sea view for per night $28. Kudawalla, tangalle
• Nuga Eden tangalle - 1km away from tangalle and $35 per night with breakfast.

As well as you can find many home stays and villas as your choice.I think it's perfect for a family or group.There were many restaurants. I will tell you some of them.

• Ceylon Excel - which is located by 105/1 pagngnawasa road, tangalle. It's vegi friendly, gluten free options.Famous for seafood.

• Little mermaid restaurant - 105, pagngnawasa road, tangalle.It's famous place for Asian cuisine.
