Ultimamente avrete sentito parlare di ApeCoin, un token che da una settimana a questa parte ha a dir poco scalato la classifica di CoinMarketCap arrivando al 39° posto (ad oggi, 24/03/2022).

Di cosa si tratta?

ApeCoin è sia un token governance che un utility token, di cui è stato fissato un tetto massimo di monete a 1 miliardo. Ad oggi in circolazione ce ne sono il 28% (fonte: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/apecoin-ape/), di cui il 15% è stato distribuito ai possessori di specifici NFT: gli Bored Ape Yacht Club e i Mutant Ape Yacht Club. Essi sono NFT di una collezione limitata di cui un'immagine sotto.

Con un airdrop, i possessori di questi NFT hanno potuto riscattare i loro token APE e cominciare a fare parte della comunità della ApeCoin DAO.

Possedendo questi token, si può partecipare alle votazioni della DAO su Snapshot(link: https://snapshot.org/#/apecoin.eth) in cui fino ad ora, sono state inserite 5 proposte:

Entrando nel sito di ApeCoin troviamo questa frase, che esprime la filosofia che ApeCoin vuole avere:

APECOIN È PER L'ECONOMIA DEL WEB3.
La Cultura ha trovato una nuova espressione nel web3 attraverso l'arte, il gioco, l'intrattenimento e gli eventi. Le possibilità per l'impatto della blockchain sulla cultura sono così infinite che non possono ancora essere tutte previste. APE è un token fatto per sostenere ciò che è prossimo, controllato e costruito dalla comunità. Servirà come un layer di protocollo decentralizzato per le iniziative guidate dalla comunità che spingono la cultura in avanti nel metaverso.

Conclusioni: Non so quale possa essere il futuro di ApeCoin, quello che è certo è che con questo corposo airdrop sono riusciti a farsi pubblicità e a far parlare di sè. Poi quello che diventerà questa DAO lo scopriremo insieme, nel frattempo, la terrò d'occhio!

You may have heard about ApeCoin lately, a token that has been climbing the CoinMarketCap rankings for the past week to 39th place (as of today, 24/03/2022).

What is it all about?

ApeCoin is both a governance token and a utility token, which has been capped at 1 billion coins. As of today there are 28% in circulation (source: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/apecoin-ape/), of which 15% has been distributed to holders of specific NFTs: the Bored Ape Yacht Club and the Mutant Ape Yacht Club. They are NFTs from a limited collection of which an image below.

With an airdrop, owners of these NFTs were able to redeem their APE tokens and become part of the ApeCoin DAO community.

By owning these tokens, one can participate in the DAO voting on Snapshot(link: https://snapshot.org/#/apecoin.eth) where so far, 5 proposals have been entered:

Entering the ApeCoin site we find this sentence, which expresses the philosophy that ApeCoin wants to have:

Conclusion: I don't know what the future of ApeCoin might be, but what is certain is that with this large airdrop they have managed to get themselves publicised and talked about. We'll find out together what this DAO will become, but in the meantime, I'll keep an eye on it!
