Fifth day in Rome. Excitement never ends

It was our fifth day in the city and our route was already drawn, that day we would know a little more about the history that Rome had to tell. The first stop was the well-known Piazza Navona. We found ourselves among the typical tourists and some enthusiastic fans of a football team that were also visiting the city, so the picture taking began.

This square has very outstanding sculptures, in addition to the beautiful buildings that surround it. It is definitely a very pleasant cultural space. In the surroundings, we could find some street artists that delighted us with their talent. I remember specially a boy who played the bass guitar masterfully.

After that, we continued our journey to Pantheon D’Agrippa, where we could see some graves and monuments to important representatives of the Italian nation. Next, we had lunch nearby and then went to visit a very interesting place on the other side of the city called Isola Tiberina.

It is said that the Island is a particular and mysterious place, a prison had been built there in the past. In the vicinity there were many Latino artisans, with whom we could talk in our own language and also buy some of the stuff they sold. I liked talking to them and forgetting a bit about the pressure that Italian meant for me, since I didn't master it.

After crossing the island, we found the Church of Santa María in Cosmedin, where the famous Bocca della Verità is located, we took many photos, of course. During our tour we were also able to visit the ancient Circo Massimo and Caracalla Baths, which are currently sport and recreation centers. We took a time to have a well-deserved break from the long walk and hydrate ourselves.

I loved the fact that Rome had many drinking fountains with water suitable for human consumption, which I always used. It was time to return to the inn for a well-deserved rest, I must say that on that specific tour we walked a lot, but isn't that how cities are known?
