May it not cool within us
neither the light nor the fire,
and may the hunger, dimmed
by the twilight of weary eyes,
never renounce the taste of fruit
or the fever of thirsting lips.

Thus let all be done, my love,
in the measure of what is loved,
for the body, prostrate in ecstasy,
knows neither respite nor fear.

Draw me in the peace of tiled walls
with my profile of a nightfall bird,
and inaugurate upon my chest
the circular feast of fingers,
tattooing islands around my heart.

Elusive, you linger in the verse,
the fleeting spark of a revelation,
and when you return, it is always
with a promise of departure,
and when you leave, it is always
with an omen of chaos, of dread
in the clear waters of your gaze.

Now I let you love, defenseless,
for the ransom of the soul.
