My Longing Holds the Sea Captive
My longing holds the sea captive
in its web of dates and places.
It is a vibrant, nostalgic substance
that I cannot touch without fear,
because it burns the fingers,
because it wounds the lips,
because it tears the eyes apart.
And do not try to tell me it is innocent,
passive, and benign, for I cannot believe it.
My longing holds women
clinging to the necks of those departing,
children playing on the sidewalks,
lovers hiding among the hedges,
soldiers cursing wars.
It can be a house or a net,
one that catches neither birds nor fish,
one with wide meshes
to let the wind pass through
and the urgency of the waves
on the body of the sand.
I would be a hypocrite to claim
this longing does not reach my lips
with the fiery taste of unfulfilled things.
I imagine it distant and extinct, and yet
it grows within me like a passion's disorder.
"JOSÉ JORGE LETRIA"
I am sharing photos of landscapes, moments and experiences. Nature and sea are the most visited themes in my photo collection, but any attention-grabbing aspect can be photographed. Hope you enjoy it...
