I Love Italy: Florence

in hive-184714 •  4 years ago

Hello, Steemit's friends.

We Venezuelans have been linked to Italy, particularly after World War II. In the 1950s many immigrants came to Venezuela in search of establishing their families in these fields that were almost virgin for that time.

That generation is now grandparents or great-grandparents. Their children and grandchildren are our friends, compadres and even life partners.

I have visited some regions of Italy several times. I love the region of Tuscany possibly because it is the region that my father likes the most.

I have been looking at photographs and I find myself in them because I have always appreciated the art that is in the streets, on the walls, in the buildings and in the statues.

But it's not just the past, in Florence art lives in the skin of its residents. Art is in the gastronomy, in the way of dressing and in the ice creams and the happy voices.

My visit to Florence was to go to the Academy and see Michelangelo's David. And so I did! It was forbidden to take photographs there, so I dedicated myself to admiring this Renaissance sculpture whose gaze, they say, is directed at Rome.

Another striking place in Florence is the Ponte Vecchio. Besides the walk which is fabulous, there is the history concentrated in its bridge with inscriptions and in the gold and stone trade.

Florence is meeting people you will always remember. The pizza maker, the young hotel receptionist, the fruit seller, the market vendors and the taxi driver. All with great kindness and joy will be people I will never forget.

I think, one day I will walk the streets again. A great greeting Florence and Florentines.
