Inflation is an economic phenomenon that generates a continuous increase in prices. This phenomenon, over time, affects the purchasing power of money. As time passes, the purchasing power of money decreases and it happens that with the same amount of money you can buy fewer goods and services.
What causes inflation:
-Increase in demand: When the demand for goods and services exceeds the available supply, prices tend to rise.
-Increase in production costs.
-Monetary policies: Excessive issuance of money by monetary authorities can lead to an increase in inflation.

Inflation can have both positive and negative effects on the economy and as we can see, monetary policies try to regulate it and keep it under control.
In short, we can say that inflation, in the economic sphere, indicates a generalized and continuous growth of prices over time.

Inflation can vary significantly in response to global and local economic events.

Considerations
Here are some data on how inflation traveled in Italy from 2020 to 2024.
-2020: Negative inflation with a rate of -0.2% (the year of Covid)
-2021: Inflation increased to 1.9%. (the post-pandemic economic recovery led to an increase in demand and, consequently, prices)
-2022: Inflation reached 8.1% (a significant peak)
-2023: Inflation at 5.7% (it fell)
-2024: Inflation at 1% (a stabilization of prices)

Conclusions
This first half of the 2020s in Italy we have seen inflation increase and create difficulties for families. Now it seems that the situation has stabilized.

L’inflazione è un fenomeno economico che genera un aumento continuo dei prezzi. Questo fenomeno con il passare del tempo agisce sul potere d'acquisto della moneta. Il tempo scorre, il potere d’acquisto della moneta diminuisce e succede che con la stessa quantità di denaro si possono acquistare meno beni e servizi.
Da cosa è causata l’inflazione:
-Aumento della domanda: Quando la domanda di beni e servizi supera l'offerta disponibile, i prezzi tendono a salire.
-Aumento dei costi di produzione.
-Politiche monetarie: Un'eccessiva emissione di moneta da parte delle autorità monetarie può portare a un aumento dell'inflazione.

L'inflazione può avere effetti sia positivi che negativi sull'economia e come notiamo le politiche monetarie cercano di regolarla e di tenerla sotto controllo.
Sintetizzando possiamo dire che l’inflazione, in ambito economico, indica una crescita generalizzata e continuativa dei prezzi nel tempo.
