Rangana flower which is very popular as an ornamental plant. It is a shrub. ‘Rangan Tomar Purnima Hasi ..’ Listening to this song sung by the artist reminds me of the beauty of Rangan flower. In fact, seeing Rangana flowers makes the mind feel good at the moment. Rangana is the name of a very familiar flower among flower lovers.
Rangana is native to tropical Southeast Asia. It is also found in abundance in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. Rangana flowers are very popular among Buddhists. On Chaitra Sankranti and New Year, the Buddhists collect bunches of flowers, pulses and leaves of Rangana and hang them on the door of the house. Buddhists know this flower as Biyu flower. In the Buddhist temple, the decoration is on the puja plate.

They are usually 4 to 6 feet long, but they can grow up to 12 feet long. Rangana trees are generally seen to be of two types. One type is bush-shaped, they can be cut into beautiful sep. Another type of Rangana tree is the scattering of stalks.
Usually the colored leaves are of dense arrangement. The leaves are simple, elliptic about 4 inches long. The young leaves are brown and the mature leaves are glossy, smooth dark green. Rangana is a very hardy tree.

Everyone can recognize the red colored flowers blooming in the bushes of the green leaves of the Rangana tree. Rangana trees usually bloom in summer and monsoon seasons but more or less flowers are seen throughout the year. However, Rangana flowers bloom the most in the rainy season. It blooms less in other seasons. However, Rangana flowers are very long lasting.

Very small green, almost round fruits are colored. The fruits turn purple or reddish when ripe. Each fruit contains one seed. Seedlings can be grown from fruits. Rangana can also be propagated by cutting the branches of mature trees from below and planting them in the ground or by using double pens and cocoon pens.

Rangana has some medicinal properties. Rangana flowers, leaves, stalks, stems and roots are used in various ways in Ayurvedic medicine.
