Hello rockstars! Welcome to a new gaming post, enjoy!
Witchfire
Witchfire is a first-person dark fantasy RPG shooter in which you play as a wicked sinner turned witch hunter on his final mission to reach salvation.
Witchfire is an RPG shooter that uniquely blends soulslike, extraction, and roguelite genres with many new gameplay features. It is a perfect game to develop and balance with community feedback.
The above description was taken from the official Steam Page! You can check the page here.
Witchfire's Trailer
I played a couple of runs on the game but not to play the missions, but to make sure I can record the game without lag or stutters. The settings set automatically by the game are great, is one of these games that sets everything properly in my opinion but in my case once I started recording sometimes I would have lag spikes. With a few changes everything went back to normal.
That's why in this run you'll see me have some witchfires already collected from the previous test run.
Without further ado, the gameplay can be watched below on my Youtube Channel:
Down below I will go in the depths of the game.
The Action takes place during a time where the Witches and the remaining humans ruled by the Church are at war. Far in the Witches lands there is a ship with an old lost artifact that has been there for centuries, an artifact that could change the war. For this the Pope himself sends one of his Witch hunters (also known as preyers) to recover the artifact, in this case, that is you, the main protagonist of the game.
As you start your journey the game allows you to pick your own Preyer from a list of six.
From left to right we have:
Butcher
- Strong, heals quickly, has the stamina of a much younger man. Fearless in battle, what lesser men mistake for anger and rashness.
Hunter
- A cunning fighter with a steady hand an no ego. The mission is the only thing that matters, everything else is a mere distraction.
Slayer
- Finds twisted delight in wielding witchcraft to dispatch the witch-made abominations. agile, with a talent for close-range combat.
Shadow
- Respects witch magic enough to avoid unnecessary risks. Why slit throats when a bullet from the shadows achieves the same end?
Saint
- An avid student of the Fates. For as Publilius Syrus noted, against a lucky man even gods are powerless.
Penitent
- A haunted man, cursed by his past and oblivious to the shadows looming in his future. WARNING: Not recommended for beginners.
From all these I went with the Saint, judging by his description his luck should be increased and I might find better loot, who knows.
The idea of the game is for you to go to an island and fight the abominations Witches created there, by killing these you are rewarded with Witchfires that can be used to upgrade your character.
The concept is pretty simple, you can go back at any given time from the island if you find a portal or go back to the spawning one, going back to your "camp" saves you your items and the Witchfires you collected and you can use them to buy upgrades.
As the game progresses and you clear monsters around the map, sometimes you get some red crystals from them that allow you to upgrade different thigs on your character, these are called Arcanas and boost your stats, skills or weapons for combat.
There are different types of "camps" on the map, I will show you the map of the first island down below:
The red skulls a little bit faded are camps that I've cleared, the visible white/grey ones are the ones still active and the one in the arena is probably a Boss, I am not 100% sure, I've died before entering that zone.
The starting weapon feels great, it has a nice feeling, ammo becomes a problem at one point but you can find chests around the map that can drop bullets.
The movement also is pretty polished, you are allowed to double jump, slide and dash, all of these consuming stamina. As for the Skills I only had one so far, creating an ice shield around me and freezing the enemies that touch it.
By the end of my short gameplay I died and lost all the Witchfires, around 16.000, enough for a couple of upgrades, but at least I familiarized myself with the game and the mechanics, the recording went well, I am prepared to take a serious run and check the story of the game.
The game's atmosphere felt nice, it's that type of game that has a little bit of horror in it, meaning the sound and visual effects always make you wonder what is behind you if you turn your mouse a little to watch behind. And the fog as you get deeper into a camp makes everything so much better.
If you like the game, I suggest you go to their Steam page and add it to your wishlist, from time to time you can even get early access to the game.
That was it for this "episode" if you enjoyed the post please drop a follow for future content, I will record future gameplays from Witchfire. Thank you for stopping by.
Logging offโฆ but donโt go AFK for too long, weโll be back with more! Have a great day!
