This is a damselfly, and shooting it upclose is not an easy task because these things when approached nearby flies away. So 1st thing you need is patience.
2nd a good gear can get the job done easily but when you use low end gear using 18-55mm as reverse macro lens instead of using a macro lens then things get pretty tough.
This is what I did, I dont have any high end DSLR or macro lens. Just a canon eos 4000D and 18-55mm lens and thats exactly how I shot this pic using reverse macro technique.

I love doing macros, but have never used a reverse lens. I'll have to try.
But I sometimes reverse the front glass of the lens :)
An interesting effect is obtained.

Sir, reverse lens means using 18-55mm lens and holding it in a reversed position. The only drawback is you cant adjust aperture and lock focus. But does the job

I know this way, but have never tried it. I have several fully manual lenses, but no reversing rings. The manual lens can be adjusted as you want and the aperture and focus. You can even use two lenses at once.
But I need a store for adapters))
