Dean stood on the edge of the water, blindly staring at the horizon in front of him. He spent many lonely sunsets on this hill top, reflecting upon his life while gazing down at his hometown. He used to come to this place when he felt he did not belong to the drama below. It was his sanctuary. A place where the air was cooler and cleaner. Most importantly the city inhabitants where much father away and his judgmental inner voices could, for a while, be muffled.
Today however was different. The noises had beed silenced completely. There was no more city below him. All he could see was a dark rising tide, highlighted by scattered pink rays of a setting autumn sun. Everything Dean had ever know had drowned beneath the water, never to be experienced again.
After weeks of constant crying there was only a soft crimson light shining behind the purity of a white clouds. The Earth had said enough and finally the Sky listened. The water released had covered everything and everyone, including his own image. The storm was hard on his system but necessary. Rain of this kind washes a person so deeply it reaches the soul and allows it to cleanse.
A strong story that gives a deep impression
