January 22. Today was the first sunny day of the year. Most likely, this will be the only sunny day in January, because cloudy weather is forecast until the end of January.
The situation turned out to be interesting. On Monday, a westerly wind began to blow, which brought warmth, it seemed that spring had already come to us. But yesterday morning the wind changed and a strong north wind began to blow, and by evening the temperature dropped below -20 degrees. This wind blew away all the clouds and cleared the sky. I want to believe that this is the only such cold day and it won't happen again this winter.

The local centralized factory boiler works at full capacity on such a day. The chimney of this boiler room and the smoke are always important indicators of wind direction for me. I also look at the chimneys of private homes. If the direction of the smoke does not match, then tomorrow there will be changes in the weather.
That is, the wind in the upper atmosphere and near the surface blows in different directions.

Snow was flying down the street yesterday morning. But it did not fall from the sky, but a strong north wind lifted it from below and carried it along the road like a cloud.
