Panoramic view of a frontier castle. After the capture of Toledo in 1085 by King Alfonso VI of León and Castile, the entire plain of the Tagus River was incorporated into his kingdom, and the border with al-Andalus advanced as far as the Guadiana, which left a wide frontier, a no-man's land between the Toledo Mounts and Sierra Morena crest. Early pressure from the Almoravids brought the border back to the Tagus and, for more than a century, several lines of fortifications emerged on that wide frontier, made up of castles, towers and fortresses, one south of the Henares and Tagus rivers, such as Ucles, Consuegra, Almonacíd, and Montalbán, and another, more advanced, along the Toledo mountains, which protected the various ports: Guadalerzas, Dos Hermanas, Malamoneda... Lost among holm oaks and olive groves, many of the ruins of those fortifications can still be made out, silhouetted against the sky, high up in the hills.

The light line at along the edge of the mountain give an impression that it is on sun and just beyond is shadow. Wonderfully done Juan, thanks,

Yes, I wanted to create a semi-contrast effect by creating a very intense shadow area bordering the light edge, a maximum contrast, and then lighten that shadow to make more detail visible. As always, thanks so much for stopping by and for the support.
