Apes are the closest animal that can be related to human in this earth. As we know, scientists had declared that Human were evolved from apes. We have the fossils of early humans which has very close similarities with apes.
Even without these theories we could say they seems related by merely looking at two. The both group have different uses with legs and hands, while most of all other animals won't differentiate them into legs and hands. The apes faces are also similar to human. We may see ape smiling like human which is not exactly a smile but the facial expressions seems like our smile.
