Pencil drawing, New Competition (No.36) - A new look at an old drawing.

A new look at an old drawing.

Greetings to all who love to draw and those who have not thought about it yet!

Today I want to share my updated drawing which was lying in my folder with other drawings for almost a year and a half.

On the one hand you could already see the original version of the drawing but what I want to present to you is significantly different from what this drawing was.

This is what the drawing looked like when I finished it and published it a year and a half ago.

I then used a new technique for myself - dot drawing.

There were no smooth transitions in the search for light and shadow the entire structure was held on small dots of graphite.

Three days ago I opened a folder with drawings and took this drawing out of it.

Over time the graphite crumbled and the drawing looked very dull.

At that moment I remembered the words of the genius of artistic realism whom you know under the name @ranartblog.

Then seeing my drawing, he jokingly threatened me with his finger and said: "No dots!"

@ranartblog was absolutely right and I decided to take his advice and make significant changes to the drawing.

On the one hand this can be called restoration but on the other hand I spent more time and effort making changes than I would have spent if I had drawn a completely new drawing.

I admit I was a little scared to start this work because I treasured this drawing as a memory of the time when I was just beginning to understand how and what to draw and there was a serious risk of ruining the drawing.

But I decided to take a risk and yesterday evening, by candlelight we had a power outage I was able to finish the drawing.

Now it looks like this.

But I do not exclude that after some time I will see and understand how and what I can improve.

This drawing is my participation in Pencil drawing, New Competition (No.36) You can win Steem. Congratulations to the winners from competition 28 organized by Dear @xpilar.
