There seems to be a lack of incentive to upvote other people--whether their post or just a comment. In some cases, I feel that the ultimate goal people have is to earn rewards. That is a bit different than some of the traditional platforms that do not offer rewards other than popularity. I would like to see more people engaging with one another just for the fun of it, rather than in the hope of a 2 cent reward. The 2 cents will come if the personal relationships grow.

yes cents is a motivation for sure but recently there has been other platforms also that are similar to steem so content producers can build a good network of such platforms and earn in multiple sites if they are willing to put in the effort. steem was the first but overtime alot has changed. i used steem 4 years ago and i must say i am disappointed recently when i joined again. its not as active as it used to be.

Yeah, it is kind of slow, which is too bad.

I guess people should learn that upvoting content gives them rewards aswell then :-)
I do sometimes notice accounts that rarely seem to upvote anything or even comment/reply. In return, I pass them over, because I'd much rather reward more interaction.

I think there are users that calculate whether there is enough reward to upvote others. What I would like to see is increased longevity of posts. Once a post is older than the initial 7 days, most seem to get little attention. I think that MAYBE people calculate that older posts are not worth upvoting because interest is low in the first place. At the same time, there are many excellent older posts that deserve attention.

Very true! In that case I guess we could leave a comment on that good post and upvote one of their younger posts. Or wait for a reply and give that a good upvote. It's something we have to work around for now I'm afraid.

I try to upvote all the good posts I can, but sometimes i feel it is casting a vote into the wind. Nominating posts for upvote attention seems like a good idea, but it has only gone so far to encourage engagement.

It would be so nice to be a big whale, able to reward every good post we find. Instead, we'll just do what we can and keep growing :-)
