We had a ferocious thunderstorm last night between midnight and 1 am--the only time during this part of the year when it is actually dark. The lightning was so bright, however, that it appeared to be daylight.
I captured this sheet lightning with my cellphone.
There was sheet lightning and bolt lightning and a LOT of rain. I worried there would be hail, but that didn't happen.
I took this picture from my front porch--with my cellphone. This bolt of lightning separated in the middle before coming together again before it hit the ground.
You would think it was daylight, but the reality was it was pitch black dark out until the lightning made everything bright. I have never experienced anything like it before.
Although it is now calm and beautiful outside, we are expecting another storm to begin, and are under a tornado warning. Golf ball size hail is a possibility. Hopefully my garden survives!
