On a dark night the hour. I look singled out two dark shadows: there, behind the white curtain, where the lamp burns, in a field of light, two shadows of the night... Alone in front of each other, alone for each other in thirst and lust, there - the shadow of a man and the shadow of a woman. Painfully head to head bends, - they will not be heard: they want and cannot. They whisper perhaps - why are they afraid of you! Tensely hands reach out to hands and they still don't touch! They want and can't... And again, in front of each other, they stand for each other. They whisper maybe, but maybe they shout, but perhaps they shout; - they will not be heard, two shadows of the night, through so much light... They will not be heard, they will not touch us, alone for each other in thirst and lust, they - the shadow of a man and the shadow of a woman!
