It is well-known that neglected gardens behind houses lead to the growth of many plants, including weeds. One such plant is the pearl grass, which is commonly found in home yards, including the area behind my house.
The grass is so tiny that I had to use an external macro camera. This time, I observed and photographed the buds of the pearl grass flowers, scientifically known as Oldenlandia Corymbosa.
This grass is part of the Rubiaceae family and is known by several names, such as square-stemmed grass, pearl leaves, snake tongue, and katepan. Pearl grass thrives in moist soil, be it in home gardens, vacant lots, roadsides, or ditches.
Pearl grass contains active compounds like ursolic acid and oleanolic acid. These compounds are known for their ability to prevent the progression of cancer cell division at more aggressive stages. They are also effective in treating tonsillitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, mumps, appendicitis, hepatitis, and cholecystitis. Furthermore, they can heal boils, uci-uci (a local skin infection), and infected wounds.
Below are some images of the pearl grass flower buds that I managed to capture using the Vivo v23e camera with an external macro lens. I hope you enjoy them.
