Leaving mistakes in shots

I've seen this mentioned on photography forums before and thought it could be an interesting post. Some photographers seem to take the approach of removing out any mistakes from shots while others prefer to leave them in. For me I think it comes down to what the image is trying to show, the intent of the shot.

Take this shot of Dani as an example. The light behind her is clearly on the floor and visible in the shot. Now for me the intent of this shot is showcasing how stunning Dani looks and I don't think its too distracting or takes anything away from the shot.

I know of some photographers who either wouldnt use that shot, or would crop it out. Dont get me wrong Im all on for editing photos to give a stylized look. If something isnt causing a distraction or taking away from the appear of the shot I dont see an issue leaving it in the photo.

Also it was pretty difficult to get that angle without showing the light behind her. I always keep the lights close to the models because light behaves different when its close to the source (it falls off faster, inverse square law).

The alternative to getting it in shot is to reposition myself so that I dont see the light, like the above shot. I like to get variation anyway so I'd always be trying different angles. It definitely wouldn't bother me at times to see a light, or light stand if it wasn't a distraction.
