When I was a little kid, I remember hearing "the adults" talking about how time was flying by... like it was something noteworthy.
At the time, I thought time was pretty much... time, and it went by pretty slowly. After all, it always felt like it was an eternity till the last class of school ended; an eternity till the weekend; an eternity till summer holidays came; an eternity till Christmas.
All these years later, I get it!
September has ended, and I have no idea where it "went!" And now it's October, and the final quarter of 2022. How did that happen?
I have not been blogging much, lately. Mostly, that is related to the distinct slowdown in our businesses, combined with the distinct rise in our cost of living. It's not an equation that adds up very well.
Much as I'd rather be blogging, there are bills to be paid... and much as I'd like to think otherwise, it has been a long time since $8 SBD allowed me to count Steemit rewards in place of a "part time job."
Here at this late late hour, I realized that I am "worried about the world" in a more distinct way than I have been, for a great many years. I'm worried about the economics, I'm worried about mounting global conflicts, I'm worried about what an economic meltdown in China might do to the rest of the world.
I'm also worried about our own little personal world, and the personal worlds of friends and family. I look around me, and struggle to think of anyone who's actually doing well, these days.
Even Steem has been muddling around in the 20-cent range since May, so not much comfort there.
But we all have to chart a course forward...
As the old saying goes: "You can always find someone who has it worse!"
I think of all the poor folks down in the southeastern corner of the US — Florida and the Carolinas, in particular — whose lives were pretty much destroyed by Hurricane Ian. A lagging business and rising costs are nothing compared to what they are facing.
But I still do pause and wonder why hardship seems so particularly prominent in the world, these days. And then I ponder whether and when it will change and a better path forward will appear?
Well, I suppose that's enough waxing philosophical over the passing of time!
Life is pretty much what we make of it, and it's time to make the most we can of the final three months of 2022... regardless of the craziness in the world.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!
How about YOU? Does "time fly," for you? Or does that just sound silly? Are you worried about the state of the world... or does it seem pretty much like it has always been, just a new set of issues? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!
