It often seems to me that life is one long "unfinished project."
We talk eternally about "all the things we need to get done," yet... no matter how many things we actually do get done, there's inevitably an equally huge pile, waiting for us to take on.
Do we ever make it to the top of the mountain?
I'm reminded of the old anecdote about climbing a mountain. What will we see, when we get to the top? What will come next?
Well, most likely what we will see is another mountain, in another mountain range, waiting to be climbed!
My father always advised me to always keep learning, no matter what. He figured that when a person gets to a point where they are no longer learning, that also means that they must be dead... or very close to it.
Earlier today. I was looking at all the "stuff" in my closet that I am looking to sell on eBay, over the next few years. Once again, I found myself wondering whether I would ever get it all done. There's so much, it seems almost impossible... and there is only so much time.
I look at it all, and often it seems like the best we can hope to do is "work on it," because actually "having it done" seems so impossibly far away.
Sometimes I think life is much like gardening: No matter how much you work at it, the weeds keep coming up, sometimes in new places; sometimes where you just weeded. And I say that as someone who loves gardening... while also recognizing the futility of it!
Persistence Matters!
Perhaps the best thing we can do is keep moving forward with intent and persistence.
I look at the piles in my closet and accept that I will never get everything done, but I can at least put in a persistent effort towards moving a little bit forward, every day.
A bit like blogging on Steemit, really: I you remain persistent and put in some effort pretty much every day, you will eventually start to get seen!
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!
How about YOU? Do you think it's possible to "get everything done?" Or is that just an impossible goal, set in order to keep people moving forward? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

I try to have a routine, as well, although sometimes it isn't how life works out. I just try to do the best I can, and sometimes that means things get left undone, anyway.
